Our Hospice of Jennings County Gala 25th Anniversary
We are proud to announce that we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Our Hospice Jennings County Gala on Saturday, February 4th, 2023. We are excited to back in person and to hold at a new venue, The Barn at Willow Lake.
The evening will consist of dinner, a live & silent auction and the traditional crowning of the Gala Queen! All proceeds from this event will benefit the patients and families cared by Our Hospice of Jennings County.

Madison C.R. Brooks
Junior at Jennings County HS
- Parents are Cindy Brooks & Nick Brooks
- Sibling is sister Lily Brooks
- Activities: Drama Club, GSA, International Thespian Society, bi-weekly vocal lessons, working on starting a body empowerment club
- Awards: 2 gold medals for Vocal Performance at ISSMA, winner of President’s Education award in 2018
“I hope to learn how to benefit my community and strengthen my college application. I hope to learn about organizations in the community.
I want to be able to support my community even though I have only lived here for a year and a half. I would like to get involved and hope to bond with other girls.”
Makenzey L. Carr
Junior at Jennings County HS
- Parents are Brandy Carr, Wade Carr, and Ed Galliher
- Siblings are Sydney Kidd, Braden Kidd and Chesleigh Carr
- Activities: 9 yrs 4-H program, 11th year dancer with Steps Dance Center, JCHS tennis team, JCHS Marching Pride of Jennings County, JCHS Student Council, JCHS Key Club, member of Columbus Clogging Company
- Awards: 2 yr Expert Showmanship winner in llamas for 4-H, 10 yr Dance Member award, ISSMA Gold Medal 2 yrs in a row, many Grand and Reserve Grand Champion 4-H awards in llamas, Junior National Honor Society
“I want to be able to enhance my communication skills, make an impact in my community, and further my knowledge of different programs in health care since I’m pursuing the health care field myself.
Hospice is an amazing program who helps people like my great-grandfather who was injured in a four wheeler accident and was unable to recover from sustained injuries. The hospice program and nurses were amazing at helping him be comfortable in his last days.”

“I hope to learn more about Our Hospice and how I can help bring awareness to the service to people who are not aware.
I have seen first hand the amazing work that Our Hospice can do for sick and dying family members. I want to raise money to assure as many people as possible can get this service if needed.”

“I hope to learn how to properly raise money for agencies / charities so that in the future, I can help do the same for others in our community. I also hope to meet and learn from the adults that I may work with in the future in the medical field.
Since I am going into the medical field, I’ve always had an interest in the elderly. I work for Autumn Trace and deal with end of life already, so I want to run for Gala Queen to help raise money to help support Our Hospice for the care and support they give patients and families.”

- Activities: Girls tennis, boys tennis manager, student council, color guard, eyditor-in-chief of JCHS yearbook/bugle
- Awards: Being named Editor-In-Chief of the JCHS yearbook and being a Gala Queen candidate are both great honors.
“I hope to learn more about the history of Our Hospice and what all they have done to help others in our community. This is also a chance for me to learn ways I can help and give back.
It will be a great moment to give back and to spread the word about Our Hospice and what they do to help others.”

- Activities: JCHS Varsity cheerleading, National Art Honor Society. Works at Boys and Girls Club
- Awards: On track to graduate with Academic Honors, 2 Varsity Cheerleading letters and will receive another this season.
“I hope to learn more about supporting my community and contributing however I can. I also hope to learn the value in helping people in need.
I want to help raise money for a good cause and hopefully create new bonds with the people of our community along the way.”

“I hope to learn more about how community service and philanthropy can directly impact families and individuals in difficult times of need.
I want to participate in this experience because when my cousin, Lilah Wierick, passed away at 8 months old, hospice was particularly helpful to my family.”

- Current Vice President of National Honor Society, French Club, and current intern at Brad Kage Attorney at Law
- On track to earn Academic Honors diploma in June of 2023 and being inducted into the National Honor Society next year
“I hope to learn more about Our Hospice, and how much they serve our loved ones and our community. I also hope to learn more about how much our community shows up when they are needed. I believe we live in a community that is giving and I want to prove that more with raising a gracious amount of funds for a great cause!
I want to participate, to give back for all Our Hospice has done for my family. My great-grandma recently passed away and Our Hospice made the grieving and the entire process easier. After all they have done for us, I feel the need to do my part in giving back.”
